Relationships can bring up some of our deepest vulnerabilities. Even couples who love each other deeply can find themselves stuck in painful cycles: miscommunication, defensiveness, resentment, emotional distance, conflict that never fully gets resolved, or feeling disconnected from intimacy and each other.

Sometimes couples come to therapy after months or years of trying to “figure it out” on their own. Sometimes they’re navigating major transitions, rebuilding trust, exploring nontraditional relationship structures, or trying to learn how to communicate without hurting each other in the process.

Couples therapy can help create a space where both people feel more heard, understood, and emotionally connected.

Couples Therapy

Therapy for couples who want deeper connection, better communication, and more honest relationships

I work with couples navigating:

  • communication difficulties

  • conflict and recurring arguments

  • emotional disconnection

  • intimacy and sexual concerns

  • attachment dynamics

  • trust and vulnerability

  • navigating polyamory or ENM relationships

  • life transitions

  • identity exploration within relationships

  • jealousy and insecurity

  • rebuilding connection after rupture

  • divorce, separation, or uncertainty about the relationship

As a queer therapist, I especially enjoy working with queer couples and nontraditional relationships, including polyamory and ENM dynamics. My work is affirming of diverse identities, sexualities, and relationship structures.

In couples work, I draw heavily from relational, psychodynamic, and emotionally focused approaches. Together, we’ll work on understanding the patterns happening underneath the conflict, not just the content of the arguments themselves. Often, couples aren’t actually fighting about dishes or texting back quickly enough; they’re struggling with feeling unseen, unsafe, disconnected, misunderstood, or emotionally alone.

Therapy can help couples:

  • communicate more openly

  • navigate conflict differently

  • deepen emotional intimacy

  • strengthen trust

  • understand each other’s emotional worlds

  • build healthier relational patterns

  • reconnect sexually and emotionally

I’m an active therapist in the room, and I won’t just sit back while the same conversation repeats itself. I’ll help slow things down, identify patterns, and support both partners in having more honest and productive conversations, while also making sure the space feels grounded, collaborative, and human.

Relationships are complicated. Therapy doesn’t make conflict disappear completely, but it can help people relate to each other with more understanding, clarity, honesty, and care.
